In den Weihnachtsnächten erscheinen dem alten Geizhals Scrooge die Geister der Vergangenheit, der Gegenwart und der Zukunft. Sie zeigen ihm, wie er als kleiner Junge war, wie er heute ist und wie er enden wird, wenn er weiterlebt wie bisher. Der Blick in die verschiedenen Welten verändert Scrooge nachhaltig. Der Storyteller Robert MacCall lässt auf lebendige Weise die Dickens’sche Weihnachtsgeschichte vor Ihren Augen entstehen.

This will be the 20th year of my performance of this story in Hamburg.

It’s a bit like ‘Same procedure as every year…’ except that it isn’t really. I have never learned this story by heart. Every year I immerse myself in it anew and make new discoveries. And also, my performance is a kind of conversation with you, the audience, I speak directly to you. So every performance is subtly different from the years before. 

For me the most important element in the story is the reminder that if we really look into ourselves we have the power to make changes which will have positive impact on us and those we come into contact with and beyond that to those we may never come into contact with but whose suffering is real.

The story is both comforting and disturbing. Disturbing because it invites not just Scrooge but we ourselves to change. But comforting because it is so heartfelt and it has a happy ending.
